U.N. Global Compact

In June 2004, Legris Industries officially joined the UN Global Compact, undertaking to support and enact, within its sphere of influence, all the Compact’s fundamental principles.

Reflecting the same spirit as our "On Course for Value" business project, this is a concrete illustration of our determination to make a lasting commitment to the community at large as part of our own development.

In line with our commitments under the Compact, we will report annually on initiatives and action taken in support of the Compact and its principles.

Launched in 2000 at the initiative of the UN Secretary General, the Global Compact calls on businesses to advance, in their practice, ten universal principles in the areas of human rights, labor and the environment.

  • Human Rights: support and respect the protection of human rights and avoid any complicity in human rights abuses.
  • Labor Standards: uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining; condemn child labor and all forms of forced and compulsory labor; combat discrimination in employment.
  • Environment: support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges; undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; encourage environmentally friendly technologies.

Finally, businesses are to work against all forms of corruption.
